ENSURING SAFETY

OFL's tankage will ensure availability of required HSFO to power plants and strengthen security of supply in the country.

Independent reception and delivery pipelines will allow safe discharge and delivery, ensuring uninterrupted supply of HSFO to power produces.

HSFO handing of BPC will become comfortable, as OFL terminal has capacity to bear part of its load.

STORING HSFO

As the recently commissioned High Sulphur Furnace Oil (HSFO) fired power plants come into operation, the projected demand for HSFO will be in excess of 5 million metric tons by the end of 2014.

Based on this projected demand, the Government's existing storage facilities look inadequate for import and distribution of furnace oil.

OFL's decision to set up a 70,000 Metric Tons capacity tank terminal can be considered as "CAPACITY BUILDUP" alongside Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) and its marketing companies to make sustainable operation of HSFO fired power plants in the country.

This will also be a part of supply chain complementary to the Government’s existing facilities and thus enable efficient import, distribution and inventory management.

FULLY AUTOMATED

It has Auto-tank Gauging system and Mass Flow Meter for quantification of product and is the only fuel storage facility in Bangladesh with an Automated Custody Transfer and Inventory Management System with no manual intervention.

CONNECTED JETTIES

The Tank Terminal is connected with Dolphin Jetties DOJ-05, DOJ-06 and DOJ-07.

Ocean going vessels with imported HSFO will be discharging products and subsequently shallow draft oil tankers will be loading product for different deports of fuel oil fired Power Stations using the independent reception and delivery pipelines of OFL.

The berthing of OFL vessels in above jetties will optimize better capacity utilization and help Chittagong Port Authority (CPA) to generate additional revenue from ship’s turn over.

FOLLOWING GLOBAL STANDARDS

OFL tank Terminal is built following international standards and compiles with best operating practices of major and state oil companies. This is the first and only tank terminal in Bangladesh the design and construction of which are certified by: “Germanischer Lloyd SE”, a leading international certification body.
